Disappointed
It was an easy decision to buy show tickets for my husband's 50th birthday as he is a lifelong fan of Adcock. Everyone might agree that witnessing Gavin Adcock live is a thrilling experience and one of those unforgettable life events. The hefty price of 1200+ for 2 tickets to the show, which we thought promised lots of lively collaborations between Adcock and other well-known rock legends, was a more difficult decision to make. To our disappointment, we saw very little of Adcock and too much of some relatively unknown "filler" musicians. The extended set of a foreign jazz band was so bad that even the host, Bill Murray, joked about how terrible it was. There were hardly any "jams" that included Gavin and his guest performers. Friday night's leg of Gavin's crossroads tour left us wanting. Yes, witnessing some of the "legendary" performers like Jeff Beck and Peter Frampton was great. However, Bonnie Raitt and Sheryl Crowe were uninspired and lifeless. The show, lasting for 5 and a half hours, featured performances that we, as serious music lovers, could have done without at least half of. Maybe Saturday's show had a more impressive line-up and execution, and for the sake of those ticket holders, I hope so. I applaud the Crossroads mission but resent having paid what we did for our tickets and travel to see a show that provided far less than what its history indirectly promised.
